Pupil Premium Grant (PPG)

At Our Lady's, we are committed to ensuring that every pupil, regardless of their background, receives the best possible start in life at school. Our primary goal is to ensure that disadvantaged pupils achieve academic success on par with their peers, closing the achievement gap between them and pupils nationwide. To achieve this, we will adopt a cyclical approach that includes identifying challenges, implementing evidence-based strategies, and continuously monitoring and evaluating progress. Our strategy combines high-quality teaching, targeted academic support, and broader initiatives to address social and mental health needs, improve attendance, and offer enriching experiences for all disadvantaged students.

 

What is Pupil Premium?

 The pupil premium is additional funding to help schools close the attainment gap between children from low-income and other disadvantaged families and their peers.

 

Pupils eligible for Pupil Premium funding are:

  • Pupils who are currently eligible for free school meals (FSM) or have been eligible for FSM at any point in the last 6 years

  • Looked after children – pupils who at any time have been looked after by the local authority or other state carers

  • Pupils previously looked after by the local authority or other state care

  • Service pupil premium is available for anyone whose parent(s) have served in the armed forces or have been a full time forces reserve in the last 6 years or have died during service

 

Pupil premium is not a personal budget for individual pupils and schools do not have to spend pupil premium so that it solely benefits pupils who meet the funding criteria. At Our Lady's, Pupil premium is used to support other pupils with identified needs, or used for whole class interventions that will benefit all pupils.

 

The school has received £23,446.

 

How will my child benefit from the Pupil Premium Funding?

At Our Lady's, the funding is used to support our children with their learning, closing any attainment gaps between disadvantaged children and their peers.

 

As part of our commitment to the development of the ‘whole child’ and raising aspirations, the funding is also used to enrich our children’s experiences.

 

How do I know if my child can receive Pupil Premium Funding?

The most common reason a pupil receives Pupil Premium funding at our school is because a parent is registered as receiving a benefit that entitles them to free school meals. This is not the same as receiving a universal free school meal if your child is in KS1.

 

Whether your child receives a universal free school meal or not, your child can receive Pupil Premium Funding if you are in receipt of certain benefits.  If you are unsure whether you child is eligible for this funding, please contact the school secretary who will be pleased to support you.
