Our Lady's Catholic Primary School

Jesus the teacher guides our every step

Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Our Lady's Catholic Primary School

Jesus the teacher, guides our every step.

On behalf of all the children, staff and Governors I would like to warmly welcome you to Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School. We are an outstanding Catholic school (Section 48) with a good rating from Ofsted (Section 5) and we are very proud of this and all that we can offer. There is much to celebrate about our school community; our sense of belonging, our family, our diversity, our traditions, our equality of opportunity and inclusion and our love of learning, thus ensuring that there is a shared vision where all are valued and appreciated.

Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School is a welcoming and caring community inspired by the Spirit of Christ which allows all gathered to develop and deepen their relationship with God. We are a family walking together in the footsteps of Jesus. We believe that everyone is gifted and called by God to fulfil some definite service for the greater good of our society. Central to this is our commitment to developing Gospel values which are experienced through our daily life and relationships and through prayer, worship and celebration. We enable our pupils to understand that their faith is at the heart of everything we do as a school.

At Our Lady’s, we like to celebrate success – at every level. The life of the school is driven by enthusiasm and a desire to achieve.  We strive to ensure that everyone is able to be valued, confident, safe and empowered. This allows pupils to discover their individual talents and strengths through a creative and life-long learning experience alongside the expectation of good manners and appropriate behaviour choices.

We aim to give the children of Our Lady’s an excellent all round education by bringing learning alive, making it exciting and stimulating. It is important that children of this school gain the maximum benefit from their time at Our Lady’s so that independence, responsibility, critical thinking, self-discipline and respect can be developed. Our educational philosophy is based on the provision of inspiring, yet challenging, teaching and learning opportunities that go beyond the curriculum, preparing the children to be active and responsible Christian citizens in the wider community.

Pastoral care is therefore a crucial part of school life. We are concerned with the development of the whole child; spiritually, morally, socially, culturally and physically.  We recognise that we have a responsibility to do everything possible to care for each child’s wellbeing, health and emotional intelligence. We encourage all children to express themselves so that their voice can be heard.

An essential ingredient for this to happen is teamwork. We view education as a joint journey for all. We want everyone involved – our children, parents, staff, PTFA, Governors, parish and the wider community. This input and support for parents is vital; in partnership we can strive for and achieve excellence.  We also ensure that we maintain good working relationships with various outside agencies involved in the care of the children.

I see my role as leading Our Lady’s in its continual pursuit of excellence. My vision is to ensure that this is a community in which every child and family has the highest aspirations for the future and feels well-supported in achieving them.

We hope that you find our website useful and informative and I look forward to continuing and growing the positive relationships we have as part of this wonderful school community.
