Fundamental British Values

The Computing Curriculum at our school delivers British Values by encouraging children to see the importance of the subject in modern Britain. Wherever possible, we find it important to immerse the children in these values which are important to our identity. Computing is used to learn about different cultures and to discuss the similarities and differences between them and our own. At Our Lady’s, we explain to children the possibilities of the internet allowing them to reach across the world; via blogging, sending emails etc. We educate children on the importance of online safety and have this as a basis when beginning each unit of the DASCo curriculum. In addition to this, children are given an annual update on Online Safety Day (in February) to ensure that their knowledge and understanding of staying safe is linked to current issues.
