One day Joe rode to an old volcano. It was a cold day and snowflakes were falling slowly. As the snow got deeper, Joe left the road by mistake. He fell into the moat, which ran alongside the road. Joe was soaked and his coat was wet. He was frozen and cold. “Help!” he groaned. It was lucky that a man approaching saw Joe fall. He grabbed Joe's coat and pulled him to safety. “That was a narrow escape!” said the man. The next day Joe moaned of a pain in his throat. He had to stay home and doze in his bed.
