Sports Premium Report

Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School appreciates the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of the pupils at this school. We believe Physical Education (PE) and sport play an important role in school life for every pupil and through PE and sport our children learn to develop the important qualities of discipline, resilience, communication, competitiveness, team work and ambition, leading to improved concentration, attitude and academic achievement. We acknowledge that a broad, balanced, high quality curriculum and extra- curricular activities have a positive impact for the pupils of Our Lady’s.

We are committed to ensuring that all pupils receive a minimum of 2 hours of PE per week, delivered by well-trained and enthusiastic teachers. The Sports Premium funding is allowing us to develop a sustainable improvement in teacher confidence and a new curriculum based on developing children’s physical skills.

What is the Sports Premium?

The Government provided funding of £150 million per annum for the academic years 2013/14 and 2014/15 to provide new, substantial primary sport funding.  This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary schools to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all children.  The sport funding can only be spent in sport and PE provision in schools.

Monitoring and Evaluation

We evaluate the action plan at the end of each academic year to identify the successes and impact of the initiatives that have been targeted. Delivery will be monitored by the PE leader and SLT to ensure that effective and high quality delivery of PE is ensured.
