Reading

We expect that you are continuing to read at home, daily for 20 minutes, fiction or non-fiction of your choice. If you are struggling to find reading material, please look back at the book trust website which has a few different books to choose from.

https://www.booktrust.org.uk/books-and-reading/have-some-fun/storybooks-and-games/ - children’s stories and story time videos.

You can also find relevant news articles weekly, on the Newsround website. https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround - news articles, quizzes and facts.

The story line website gives you access to lots of Year 2 appropriate stories to hear, they are read to us. Please do not be put off by the absence of physical activity of reading as there are still lots of learning opportunities here. The stories can either make more stories accessible to less confident readers but can also allow more opportunities for confident readers to develop comprehension skills and experience more texts (or variety of texts).  Parents can still practice the comprehension skills (attached to reading logs) alongside these audio stories, discuss likes, dislikes and new vocabulary.

https://www.storylineonline.net/ - has a great collection of stories which you can listen to and discuss (perfect for bedtimes).

Let us know what you are reading at the moment and if you have any recommendations for others in our class.
