Activity 2: - Guess my number game. (We play this a lot in school)
Begin with the number cards laid out in order. Start with 10 and then increase the cards. You think of a number but don’t tell your child. Your child then has to ask questions to work out what the number is. For example; is your number less than 8? You can only answer yes or no. As you answer, your child can then remove the number cards, until only one remains. If they have worked it out correctly it will be the number you first thought of!
Watching your child remove unwanted cards allows you to clearly see how well they understand and can use information to solve a problem. As your child becomes more skilful they will be able to play this game without the cards by mentally sifting the information from your answers.
You can then swap roles, and your child answers your questions.
