Special Educational Needs |
| The named Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator at Our Lady's is Mrs P Dalton.
At Our Lady's we believe, that:
Additionally, the school will endeavour to meet the needs of children with physical disabilities. However, it must be recognised that Our Lady's School is a two-storey building and access to the second storey is provided by steps and there are also steps at the back entrance. However, there are ramps to the front of the building and to the Reception classroom. When considering integration it may be necessary to take account of specialist resourcing, teaching and the needs of other children in the school. The Governing Body is mindful in considering provision for the disabled whenever maintenance or building projects are undertaken. Further disabled access provision is an identified area for development on the School Improvement Plan. Children with identified special educational needs work in small groups with extra support from the SENCO, Special Needs Teacher and Learning Support Assistants. We support children at School Action Plus and School Action on the Special Educational Needs Audit through Individual Education Plans, which are tailored to an individual child's needs. Where it is felt to be beneficial, individual or groups of children are withdrawn from the classroom to work in the special needs room on the first floor on their individual targets. We are also able to identify and support children with special educational needs through close liaison with a range of support services. We consider parents to be partners in ensuring all children in our school make progress. |
