In our school we have a group of children that run various religious activities around the school. Below are some self portraits of the RE leaders where they have wrote a paragraph explaining why they enjoy being an RE Leader:
On Friday 16th June, Y6 attended a day-long retreat at St. Anselm’s Church. This was organised by the school’s RE leaders (who are also in Y6) in conjunction with the St. Patrick’s Mission team who were visiting the parish. The day started with a mass led by the children and an opportunity for them to go to confession. The children were then given the opportunity to think more critically about their faith by hearing about the love that God has for all of us; this was delivered in the form of inspirational stories- led by members of the mission team, Catherine and Niall. The retreat finished with time to reflect during a ‘Holy Hour’. During this time, readings about healing were read and it was another opportunity for the children to go to confession. The ‘Holy Hour’ also consisted of Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by Benediction.
In summary, the retreat gave the children an opportunity to reflect on their faith and become closer to God.
